Janice Chang, CEO of BioCelerate
When Janice Chang witnessed how often clinical trials failed to represent the wide array of patients they’re meant to serve, she knew transformative leadership would be needed to help bridge this critical gap.
As CEO of TransCelerate since 2023, Janice has redefined the organization’s mission around converging clinical research and clinical care, emerging from post-COVID board discussions where she challenged leaders to dream bigger. She’s helping expand collaboration beyond traditional biopharma to include the broader health ecosystem, driven by the belief that lifesaving and life-changing new medicines and treatments should be delivered to patients safely and more effectively.
Clinical research is complex, expensive and data driven, but at its heart it is not simply a number, it’s a person. Maybe a parent, a child or oneself. This patient-first approach is deeply personal, shaped by Janice’s experience watching her father’s delayed cancer diagnosis and language barriers demonstrate how certain populations can fall through healthcare cracks.
A University of Pennsylvania and Wharton graduate, Janice has been with TransCelerate since its 2012 inception, bringing patient-focused leadership to complex global health challenges. She’s passionate about helping underserved communities access clinical trials and encouraging young professionals to trust their own voice.
When not directly impacting clinical research, she unwinds by hosting dinner parties that bring together diverse groups, because as her niece notes, “you like to cook because you like to bring people together.” She is eager to connect with fellow mission-driven changemakers committed to reshaping healthcare’s future.
